I am not venting; I am sharing my struggle. I have been watching and waiting to see what will happen due to the onset of Covid cases. I took the liberty of canceling most of my trips last year due to growing safety concerns. I am extremely grateful that I was able to take a short trip in October 2020 to sedate my internal travel bug. Now we are in August 2021, and I am once again canceling flights. I want to be safe, although some might say I am jumping the gun…I do not agree. This blog is extremely random, but it is a testament to how I am feeling at the moment. I live in Texas and there is no mask mandate or shutdown on the horizon, but new cases are currently in the twenty thousand range. Who am I kidding, this is terrifying! We are regressing back to 2020 like no lessons were learned. I am in the process of looking up new ideas of what I can do to safely celebrate my birthday, but I am also very aware that school starts in a mere three days, and I do not want to leave the confines of my bedroom. Personally, my brain is going back into March 2020 mode. This is our reality, and it is kind of bleak at the moment. I am not a Debbie Downer; I just want everyone to be smart and make decisions not just with yourself in mind but also for everyone around you. This is an us problem; I will figure something out for my birthday but in the meantime, I think it should be said that we all need to start thinking of alternative ways to live life as healthy and safely as possible. I will not be watching the news because it is too much and my stress levels will skyrocket. I hope that this uptick is fleeting, everyone remains safe, those who are susceptible please wear your mask, and I pray for recovery for all who come in contact or catch the virus.
